Platemat Blue Clay

Is it time for your little curious "food explorer" to start learning to eat by themself? As exciting as it may be, this transition can be met with some challenges along the way. It’s fun to watch them work so hard to learn an independent skill, but a horrible mess is inevitable. It's not always a walk in the park.

In the beginning of learning to eat food, babies will most likely miss their mouth and the food will wind up all over the table, floor and in the dog's belly (leaving a very happy dog 😊).

With that experience in mind, as parents ourselves, we wanted to design a product to make this phase a little smoother . We came up with this one of a kind product which we call "platemat". Is is a combination of a placemat, plate and tray.

It's the ideal product for introducing food to your baby, whether it's BLW or the “I can do it myself” phase. No plate will ever be big enough and no placemat will keep all the crumbs and fluids off your table. Using our platemat lets your little one pass this phase without you needing to worry about your table's surface or scrubbing the table clean every time they eat. Believe us, we know!

We also wanted to design our platemat to fit perfectly on the popular IKEA Antilop highchair tray. Like most families, when we began introducing our children to food, out of convenience, we served the food directly on the highchair's plastic tray, not realizing that the tray wasn’t meant to be a plate or eating surface.

Even though we loved the highchair, we always worried that it wasn't cleaned properly and wasn't hygienic enough. Now you can serve food directly on the silicone platemat on the Antilop highchair without having a bad conscience.

We've made this product

Free of BPA, PVC, phthalates, lead, cadmium and other hormone-disrupting chemicals.

When you buy our high-quality silicone products, you can be confident that they will hold the test of time and the cost per use will justify the investment. They will not warp, break, crack or get chipped compared to other materials, giving silicone products a long lifespan and making them more sustainable. This durability together with our idea of gender-neutral colours makes our tableware perfect for handing down to your next child or to the next generation or for upcycling.

Not All Good Things Must Come to an End

When properly cared for, your Atelier Keen products will last for years but they´re also great to upcycle! By prolonging the lifetime and usage of each product, you’ll lower its environmental impact significantly. It´s always better to keep them in use and give them a second life! Here´s an idea! How about stocking your toddler’s play kitchen with a set of outgrown tableware for their imaginative play. They can pretend having a coffee shop and having tea parties serving they’re very important guests (stuffed animals). Remember, they’re even dishwasher safe, in case your kid happens to eat a real snack off them, too.

Alongside our passion for design, we are also committed to helping underprivileged and disadvantaged families and children. A generous part of our profit will be donated to the Swedish organisation Majblomman and their important work.
